Today marks the first day of fall. And what a lovely one we are having. I do not remember a Indian summer like we have had. The last 3 weeks have been so pleasant outside that we are hardly in until its time for the boys to go to bed.
I love fall. I love to watch the leaves change colors and see them fall to the ground.
I love watching the pumpkins come out to the front porches. I love the cool crisp mornings and the breezy days. I love seeing the smoke of breath in the cool air
I love drinking hot chocolate and curling up with a good book and a light blanket wrapped around me. I love the smell of wood in the fireplace burning and watching the golds and deep reds that start to appear everywhere.
I find joy in seeing the kids bundled up ready for a romp in the leaves.
I love Thanksgiving and Christmas that follows. The smells, the excitement.
As I sit here I begin to wonder what new traditions that I can start with my children this year. They are older now. We can do so much more than we could last year.
Then I start remembering my sweet Granny. And all that she did to make sure our holidays were so special. My parents too...
No wonder this is a important time of year for me.
Sweet fall... how do you do!
